Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need to bring my own table and chair?
Yes. Authors are responsible for bringing their own table and chair.
Tables must be 6 feet in length or smaller. Tables larger than 6 feet are not permitted.
Will electricity be available?
Electricity is very limited and cannot be guaranteed.
Can I share a table?
No. Due to space limitations, table sharing is not permitted.
What genres are accepted?
All genres are welcome. We strive to create a balanced event that offers readers a wide variety of books and interests.
Are traditionally published authors welcome?
Absolutely. Independently published, traditionally published, hybrid, and small press authors are all welcome to apply.
Can I sell books and merchandise?
Yes. Books and author-related merchandise may be sold, provided everything fits within your assigned table space. Additional tables, shelving units, and display racks are not permitted.
Can I put up a floor banner?
No. Due to space limitations, floor banners are not permitted.
Can I bring my own food and beverages?
Yes. Authors are welcome to bring their own snacks, meals, and beverages. Food and beverage vendors may also be available during the event.
What time is author setup?
Accepted authors will receive setup instructions and arrival times prior to the event.
What happens if I arrive after check-in closes?
Authors must arrive and check in during their assigned setup window.
Because the event floor plan is carefully designed to create the best possible experience for readers and participating authors, late arrivals will not be permitted to set up. If an author has not checked in by the designated deadline, their space will be reassigned.
No refunds will be issued for authors who fail to arrive by the required check-in time.
Do I need to stay for the entire event?
Yes. Authors are expected to remain set up for the full duration of the festival. Early teardown and departure are not permitted, as they disrupt the reader experience, affect neighboring authors, and impact the overall flow of the event.
Authors who leave before the conclusion of the event will not be invited to participate in future Creative Slingers of Ink events.
Is Wi-Fi available?
Wi-Fi will be available at the venue; however, glitches can happen. A backup payment method is recommended.
Can I accept credit cards?
Yes. Authors are responsible for providing their own payment processing equipment and services.
Is parking available?
Yes. Free parking is available for both authors and attendees.
Can I bring bookmarks, business cards, postcards, or other promotional materials?
Absolutely. Authors are encouraged to bring promotional materials that fit within their assigned table space.
Can I hold a giveaway or drawing?
Yes. Authors are welcome to collect email addresses and hold giveaways or prize drawings. To avoid disruptions during the event, winners should be selected and announced after the festival, such as through email, social media, or a Facebook Live video.
What happens if I need to cancel?
Please contact Creative Slingers of Ink as soon as possible if you are unable to attend.
